Slack notifications for Launchpad work differently than the general Slack integration. Launchpad Slack notifications are sent as direct messages to individual reps, while the general integration sends messages to channels via Playbooks.
How it works
Slack notifications for Launchpad require both admin-level setup and per-rep authentication. Once configured, notifications are automatically enabled when reps toggle them on while creating share links.Setup overview
1
Admin connects Slack workspace (one-time)
An admin connects Slack via OAuth at the workspace level. This creates a workspace-level integration with the Slack access token that enables notifications for all reps.Navigate to Settings > Integrations > Slack > Connect and authorize the Navattic app to access your Slack workspace.
2
Each rep authenticates their Slack account (one-time)
Important: Each rep must authenticate their individual Slack account once before
they can receive notifications. This links their Slack account to their Navattic account and is a requirement for
Slack notifications to work. Without this step, reps will not receive any Slack
notifications even if they toggle notifications on when creating share links.Authentication happens automatically when you first enable
Slack notifications in the share link settings. A new browser tab will open to complete
the Slack OAuth flow, then close automatically once authentication is complete.
3
Create share links with notifications enabled
When creating a share link, toggle Slack notifications ON in the share link
settings.Notifications are sent as direct messages from the Navattic Slack Bot to the rep who
created the share link.
Setting workspace defaults
Admins can configure default notification settings at the workspace or project level via Launchpad settings. These defaults determine whether Slack notifications are enabled by default when reps create new share links. To configure defaults:- Navigate to Launchpad > Settings > Share defaults
- Under Alerts, expand the Slack alerts section
- Toggle the default notification settings for:
- Visitor notifications
- Re-share notifications
Workspace defaults only control whether notifications are enabled by default when creating new links. Notifications will only work if the rep has authenticated their Slack account in Step 2 above.
Notification types
Reps can receive the following types of Slack notifications:- Visitor notifications: Get notified when someone views or engages with a demo you’ve shared
- Re-share notifications: Get notified when a recipient shares your demo with other stakeholders (if the demo share button is enabled)
Troubleshooting
If you’re not receiving Slack notifications:- Verify you’ve authenticated your Slack account: Navigate to Settings > Integrations > Slack and confirm your account is connected
- Check that Slack notifications are enabled on your share link: When creating or editing a share link, ensure the Slack notifications toggle is turned on
- Confirm the admin has connected the workspace: The workspace-level Slack integration must be set up by an admin before individual reps can authenticate
