Build Demos that Delight

Lead with your product

  1. Prioritize vibrant, visual, and value-adding product areas when taking Captures. Use the Capture Editor to brush up text or images if needed.
  2. Use Tooltips, Beacons, and Backdrops to highlight the most important elements on each step. Visit demos by Mixpanel, Edge Delta, and DailyPay for inspiration.

Craft an engaging narrative

  1. Top performing demos start with a hook, address customers directly, and contain 10-15 steps with 100-200 characters per step. Visit Copywriting for more expert tips.
  2. Boost conversion: Add CTAs after major product wow moments, on your final step, or throughout your demo with Escape View (recommended for 10+ step demos)

Apply finishing touches

  1. Create a Theme that includes your brand colors and fonts. Visit demos by Guru, Dooly, and Drift for design inspiration.
  2. Set Responsive Strategies to determine how demos appear at different resolutions (send your demo link to [email protected] if you’re not sure which strategy to use).

Add Conversion Points

Remember, the goal of your demo is to encourage visitors to take the next step, whether that is booking a sales demo, starting a free trial, upgrading an in-app feature, or something else entirely. On average, Navattic demos convert 15-20% of engaged visitors.

Consider including the following conversion opportunities in your demo.

  1. Conclude your demo with 1-2 CTAs - Add a button to the last step your demo to direct visitors to the next step (ex. "Start a free trial", "Book a demo", etc.)
  2. Include a mid-demo conversion step - In addition to the last step of your demo, we found that the most CTA clicks occurred on step 7 of a Flow. Consider a dedicated conversion step right after a major reveal or “wow moment” in your demo, as shown in this top-of-funnel demo by Guru.
  3. Include Escape View in Tooltips and Modals - While many demo visitors will complete your demo, a high-intent or returning visitor may be ready to convert before reaching a dedicated conversion step. Add Escape View to give visitors access the CTA option at any point.

Tip: When linking to other pages, consider adding UTM_source=navattic to identify traffic that stems from your demo (more info on UTMs).
