# Narrated demos

> Create demos with synchronized audio narration using Copilot.

<Info>
  Available on the **Growth plan and above**. Requires Copilot to be enabled in your workspace.
</Info>

Narrated demos let you record your screen alongside a live voice narration, then use Copilot to generate a demo where the audio and screen captures are synchronized. The result is a polished, self-paced experience visitors can watch on their own.

## Creating a narrated demo

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Create demo modal">
    From your Navattic workspace, click **Create demo**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select Narrated demo">
    Under **What type of demo are you creating?**, choose **Narrated demo** from the dropdown.

    <Note>
      This option only appears when Narrated Demos and Copilot are both enabled for your workspace. Contact your account team if you don't see it.
    </Note>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter your app URL and name your demo">
    Provide the URL of the application you want to capture, then give your demo a name. Click **Create**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the Navattic Chrome Extension">
    After creating the demo, open the Navattic Chrome Extension on your application. You'll be prompted to select a microphone for recording.

    Choose your preferred microphone from the **Microphone** dropdown, or select **None** to skip audio. Click through to begin your capture session.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Record your narration and captures">
    Navigate through your application as you normally would when capturing a demo. As you capture each screen, speak your narration aloud — Navattic records the audio and links each capture to its point in the narration timeline.

    When you're done, end the capture session in the extension.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Generate the narrated demo">
    Return to Navattic and click **Generate** to let Copilot build the demo from your recordings. Copilot uses the audio and capture timestamps to create a synchronized experience.

    Generation time depends on the length of your recording.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Syncing narration from step text

After a narrated demo is generated, you can update the narration for individual steps using the text already in your Modals and Tooltips — no re-recording needed.

To sync narration from step text, open the step in the Flow Builder and click **Sync from step text** in the voiceover settings. Navattic uses the step's text content to generate new narration audio for that step.

This is useful when you've edited the text of a step and want the narration to match the updated copy.

## Closed captions

<Note>
  Closed captions must be enabled for your workspace. Contact your account team if you don't see this option.
</Note>

Narrated demos support closed captions that display synchronized text alongside the audio narration. When enabled, visitors see a caption overlay that follows along as the narration plays.

To enable closed captions, open the narrated demo in the builder, go to **Settings**, and toggle on **Closed captions**.

## Tips for narrated demos

* **Speak naturally** — Narrate as if you're walking a colleague through the product. Copilot handles the synchronization; you focus on the message.
* **Pause between screens** — Give yourself a moment after speaking before clicking to the next screen. This keeps the audio clearly tied to the relevant capture.
* **Test your microphone first** — Confirm your microphone is working before starting a session to avoid having to re-record.
* **Keep recordings concise** — Shorter, focused narrations produce the clearest results. Aim for demos that cover one goal or workflow per recording.
